    Biographical Notes


    Carol Bolton Carol Bolton’s first degree was in English Literature and Language. She taught at Monash and UWA for some years before retraining as a clinical psychologist and then as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. She is a Foundation member of APPWA and a past President of the PPAA. She has retired from clinical work but still sees some supervisees and is currently running an Infant Observation.


    Christine Brett Vickers is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist practising in central Victoria. She is also an historian, with a doctorate from La Trobe University. She is currently researching the development of psychoanalysis in the former British Empire and the Oceania region.


    Ann Cebon Ann Cebon is a Tavistock trained child & adult psychotherapist. Now semi-retired, she has been a member of the VAPP since arriving in Melbourne in 1975. She has a particular interest in ethics as well as teaching the Esther Bick Method of infant observation in clinical training. She continues a small practice in clinical supervision of child & adult cases.


    Paul Foulkes is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and psychiatrist in private practice. He is the Chair of the PPAA Ethics Committee, and has been a Past President of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia and the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (VAPP). He has also been past Chair of the VAPP Ethics Committee.


    His areas of professional interest have in particular included Ethics as applied to the practice of Psychiatry and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He has a continued interest in the area of Eating Disorders being a Founder of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders. He teaches and supervises in Psychotherapy training courses.


    Edwin Harari is Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry,University of Melbourne and Consultant Psychiatrist, St .Vincent ‘s Hospital Area Mental Health Service, Fitzroy, Victoria. He was Visiting Lecturer, Department of Philosophy, University of Melbourne , the Department of Philosophy, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, and Department of the History of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA.


    He completed post-graduate training in Family Psychiatry at the Philadelphia, Child Guidance Clinic, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA.


    He also works in private practice in individual, marital and family therapy.


    Anne Jeffs is a clinical social worker and psychoanalytic psychotherapist working in private practice in Northcote, Melbourne. She works with infants, children and adolescents, as well as adults, and is a member of the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists (VAPP), the Victorian Association of Child Psychotherapists (VCPA) and an Associate Member of Group Relations Australia. She is the recent Chair of the VAPP Professional Development Committee and a member of the VAPP Training Committee. Anne has a long-standing passion for the creative arts, especially fiction and film, and often draws on them in her conference and journal papers to illuminate theory and clinical phenomena.


    Nada Lane is a Melbourne based psychoanalytic psychotherapist who works in both the public and private sector. She is a Unit Coordinator in the Child Psychotherapy stream of the MMHSc (Monash University) and is current president of the Victorian Child Psychotherapists Association (VCPA).


    Paul McEvoy is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in private practice in Perth. He completed his psychotherapy training with the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy of WA twenty five years ago, and has been active in APPWA and PPAA since that time.


    Allan Shafer MA (Clinical Psychology) D Litt et Phil, Clinical Psychologist, is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and clinical supervisor in private practice in Melbourne and a socioanalytic organisation consultant and international group relations consultant.


    He is a member of the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists, was an Executive member of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia and is currently immediate past President of Group Relations Australia. He has published articles and chapters in professional psychotherapeutic as well as socioanalytic journals and books.


    Allan has directed or consulted on the staff of group relations experiential conferences in the tradition of the Tavistock Institute in Australia, the UK, India, China, Israel and Poland and has a particular interest in the dynamics of social systems.
